Auditions !

Throughout these next few months, dance company's will be auditioning everywhere for their summer intensives. A summer intensive is just like a summer camp. They usually are about 5-6 weeks long. In these intensives you dance pretty much the whole time. It is very intense ! Attending these camps is very beneficial if you plan to pursue dance as a career. They keep you in shape over the summer and gives you a taste of what it would be like to dance professionally. You do have to audition for summer intensives. Sometimes they will even give out scholarships. I have attended a smaller version of these camps 2 years ago. It was for the Orlando Ballet and it was only 3 weeks. I plan to audition for several places, but my goal is to get into the Houston Ballet summer program and attend it !

  1. I agree with you. Attending a ballet summer intensive will definitely be beneficial to your career as a dancer. It will not only be an unforgettable experience, but it will make you a stronger and well-rounded dancer. I have attended two different ballet summer intensives; Boston Ballet Dancelab (2005) and The School of American Ballet (2006 and 2007). Both summer camps were wonderful experiences and helped me grow as a dancer in many ways.
